I want to run all my lines back to the cockpit for easier single handing. I have noticed some folks have mounted a winch or two on the pop-top. What is the best size? I've been looking at ebay at used Lewmar 6's and 7's. What about Barient sizes?
If I run all the lines to the cockpit is there any reason to keep the halyard winch up on the mast?

I believe the cabintop Lewmar winches are single speed 8's. You most likely won't need the mast winch unless you want to use it for a spinnaker halyard.
Well, never pass up a chance to spend money. My boat already had one Lewmar 7 on the cabin top so I left my other two Lewmar 7s on the coaming and bought a new Lewmar 7 for the port cabintop. IF I had not already had one 7 I would have moved the two coaming 7s to the cabintop and put new 14st winches on the coaming. That is the optimal rig, however remember that any new winch will have a new hole pattern and you will need to fill the old holes with epoxy. What is the mast winch? If it is a 7 then you should use it and buy one winch to match it. Not anywhere near as much fun but if you are only needing one you can quit shopping and buy. Catalina Direct has good prices. A mast winch might come in handy when hauling someone up the mast in a bosun's chair.
I replaced my old mast with a new mast with internal halyards and deck organizers, so I put the Lewmar 7 from the mast on the deck and bought another Lewmar 7 from ebay for the other side. I'm very pleased with the result.
