Welcome aboard and good question. I'm somewhat of a newbie myself(don't let my rank fool you), but I think the theory is you select the search menu that is up in the top righthand corner and when the search screen comes up, check the "archived posts" box when doing your search. Now, having said that, I've tried this and all I get is a "no matches found" response. I'm not sure if the archives do not have what I'm looking for or they can't be accessed that way. Anyway, from what I understand, this forum used to be on the "trailersailor" website and it does have archived(old) posts that you can search. Here's the link. http://www.trailersailor.com/search.html
thank you! i will try it. now i have a question on ranks. when i first posted i was a newbie...now all of a sudden i am a deckhand!! how did that happen? hahahahahahah
By virtue of your 10 posts, you were summarily promoted to the rank of deck..... Okay, if you want the official ceremony, here goes:
<b>Here Ye, Here Ye!</b>
<b>Know All Men by These Presents:</b> and to all <i>Landlubbers, Sea Lawyers, Salts, Swabs, Square-Knot Admirals, Gold Brickers and other Scavengers of the Seven Seas Greetings</i>:
BE IT KNOWN: <i>By all earthy mortals and others who may be honored by his distinguished presents that,</i> <b>COLDDUCKS</b>, <i>has been promoted to the Illustrius rank of</i> <b>DECKHAND</b>. <i>And, therefore, for this Good and Sufficient Reason, He is entitled by the Laws of the Sea to all the Rights and Priveleges of a</i> <b>DECKHAND</b>. <i>This Final Accurate selection will be made in Order of Seniority according to the Treasured and Honorable records contained in Davey Jones' Log.</i>
<b>Disobey This Order Under Penalty Of Our Royal Displeasure.</b>
<i>Given on this Day, the </i><b>4th</b><i> of </i><b>April</b><i>, in the year of our Lord,</i> <b>2002</b>.
In the future, would you kindly extend me the curtesy of addressing me as <b>"SIR"</b>, since I am a <b>"Skipper"</b> and I do outrank you.<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>
Allright, Allright! Nothin' I hate more than a whiny Admiral. Well we might as well have the ceremony for all four of you Admirals, so we don't have to hear the collective whine. Anyway...
"AAAA-TEN-SHUN!"
I said, ""AAAA-TEN-SHUN!"
Uh, hello... come on, work with me...that means you four honorees have to stand now for the reading of the proclamation.(...right now there are four guys staring back at me with puzzled looks on their faces as they teeter to their feet, but what do you expect from these nautical fossils...)Okay, here we go:
<b>Here Ye, Here Ye!</b>
<b>Know All Men by These Presents:</b> and to all <i>Whales, Walruses, Mermaids, Eels, Sharks, Barracudas, Scallops, Lobsters, Groupers, and other Denizens of the Deep <b>Greetings</i>:</b>
BE IT KNOWN: <i>By all earthy mortals and others who may be honored by their distinguished presents that,</i> <b>DAVE BRISTLE, DOUGLAS YOUNG, DUANE WOLFF, & DEREK CRAWFORD</b>, <i>have been promoted to the Illustrius rank of</i> <b>ADMIRAL</b>. <i>And, therefore, for this Good and Sufficient Reason, They are entitled by the Laws of the Sea to all the Rights and Priveleges of an</i> <b>ADMIRAL</b>. <i>These Proceedings and Promotions will be written to the Treasured and Honorable records of Davey Jones' Log.</i>
<b>Disobey This Order Under Penalty Of Our Royal Displeasure.</b>
<i>Given on this Day, the </i><b>5th</b><i> of </i><b>April</b><i>, in the year of our Lord,</i> <b>2002</b>.
Now, can I get some help wheeling these Old Salts back to the Home for Ancient Mariner's!
i want to thank all you guys. all i asked was "how to get onto the archives" and i have had so much fun talking to all of you. you all have a great sense of humor and i have enjoyed all of your comments. thanks again for all the laughs.
Well, Coldducks, (do you have an actual name?) that's what often happens to a simple question around here--especially in the Spring when we're getting antsy! I was going to work on Passage today, but the temp barely cleard 40, so she sits in the boatyard alone, unvisited, forlorn,... I WANNA GO THERE!! But it's getting dark...
Dave Bristle, 1985 C-25 SR-FK #5032 "Passage" in CT
i know what you mean. though we have visited fantasy throughout the winter, they do look forlorn!! we will be in there this comming weekend as we are having shore power and a depth finder installed. we also hope to prep the bottom for the paint. we are looking for a may 1st launch. (we say that every year, but we are usually hidden behind several huge POWER boats in the boatyard) this year we asked to be in front and they accomodated us. so we should be ok this year, I hope..

congratulations.....we have the same boat, year and style. and our first names are the same...isn't that wierd? what number is your hull. mine is 409.. i think that the only way to drain the tank is to pump the sinks. i iknow this takes a long time, but that is how we do it. you will love this boat. good luck and have fun..
<BLOCKQUOTE id=quote><font size=1 face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" id=quote>quote:<hr height=1 noshade id=quote>I must confess I am just trying to move from deckhand status. Fifty posts right?
Ray Seitz C 250WB #628 <hr height=1 noshade id=quote></BLOCKQUOTE id=quote></font id=quote><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" size=2 id=quote>
Yes, at fifty posts you become a first mate. Until then you're just a "d*ckh**d"!<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>
Don: I never got a cermony for becoming a <BLOCKQUOTE id=quote><font size=1 face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" id=quote>quote:<hr height=1 noshade id=quote>"d*ckh**d"! <hr height=1 noshade id=quote></BLOCKQUOTE id=quote></font id=quote><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" size=2 id=quote> maybe if I get lucky I can get one for 1st mate. Guess it depends on if I get 50 posts prior to your boats launch date = the end of boredom. I can't occupy the state mooring until ~ May 1 so two weeks and counting. Your just 4-5 hours north must be gettin close.
My slip is also open on May 1st and April has proven to be a very busy month for me and my new to me boat. I still have some work topsides to do and then I have to tackle the bottom paint.
