Does anyone know anything about Danard or North Star inflatables?

The starting, and current, bid for an 8'8" Danard inflatable is $650. http://stores.ebay.com/Danard-Marine-Products_W0QQcolZ2QQdirZQ2d1QQdptZ0QQftidZ2QQsojsZ0QQtZkm

The current bid on an 8'6" North Star inflatable is $520.

Does anyone have any suggestions where else to look for inflatables? I looked at defender.com, and their prices aren't too bad on name-brand inflatables.

Steve,

If you're looking to buy new, Defender is probably your best bet. They move a lot of inflatables, and are good people to do business with.

If your projected use involves prolonged exposure to sunlight (UV ) then hypalon should be your first (only) choice. People in Fla know this well, usually from trying to reglue transoms on PVC inflatables.
I have a 29 year old Avon which is still usable, although it DID spend a lot of time in the bag. Ron srsk Orion #2343 SW FL

I just (today) bought a roll-up 8'8" Achilles at Defender's warehouse sale--they're just a few miles from my new home. Everyone supports the Hypalon claims--much more resistant to UV, solvents (including gasoline), and abrasion. Zodiacs and Mercurys are PVC, Avons and Achilles are Hypalon, and many others are PVC. The weights are very similar, but the durability supposedly is not.

Thanks to all for your ideas. I took your advice and bought an Achilles from Defender. (Today is the last day of their warehouse sale.) I was trying to save 3-4 boat units, but decided a name brand hypalon boat was a better choice.

I was looking at inflatables on ebay but then my wife said I had to stay out of the adult section.
