Has anyone had problems with this Clam Shell? This is where the gas line comes out to the Motor. I have a 1999 C250 and the Clam Shell is very heavy metal. The attachment is with one screw and it comes off too easily. Right now its off but I'm looking for a fix or alternative, especially to keep the water out. Ideas?
Steve, did you replace the existing Catlina C250 Clam Shell? I have searched through a great many Web Pages to try and find an exact Clam Shell for the dimensions of the hole without much luck. This OEM Clam Shell has a screw at the top of the Shell and at the bottom on the right and left two screw heads coming out of the Clam Shell that sort of push into the holes in the hull. It's a crazy design. Right now it just won't stay on even with some caulking. I hate to put more holes in the hull but that may be the only answer.
I misunderstood. I was talking about the clam shell I put on to feed the alterantor cord into the boat to connect to the battery. The next time I am at the boat I'll check to see how the gas line clam shell it connected. I do know mine is metal not plastic.
My C250 WK is a 1999 and the Clam Shell is made out of Heavy "Pot" metal that is chromed. Nice Pic.... I noticed that the 1998's used a Plastic body Clam Shell. Catalina must have just used what was handy. I'm thinking of making a flap with White Rubber Roofing material and getting rid of the metal shell altogether. I could try a longer screw but am not too enthused about going deeper into the Hull.
