As the nation's 6th (ex-)Great Lake, Lake Champlain offers some wonderful sailing and is home to many Catalina's (25/250's, 27's...). I am not aware, however, of any local Catalina association. Even though the lake does not officially open for another 4 weeks and 5 days, I know I have the fever already and would like to throw out two suggestions. (1) if there are any members of this forum interested in informally getting together on the Lake this summer for an evening, or a sail, perhaps we can start a conversation to see how many of us there are, where we are respectively located, and if there is interest in getting together. My wife (Leslie) and I sail out of Malletts Bay. (2) The forum's current list of registered boats is sorted by hull no. But as it would also be interesting to know who your neighbors are, any chance other sort options might be made available when viewing the associations registered boats web page, e.g. by state?

Jim,
Are you referring to the actual membership database or the Owner's Directory on the website?
If it's the Owner's Directory, could you update my entry by changing my boat's name (Hull 2151) from "Northstar" to "North Star"
Thanks Jim, apparently no takers at this point in time. I know there are at least 6-8 C-25's moored or docked within minutes of my mooring. We'll just see what opportunities present themselves.

Gerry,
The non-landed local yacht club in my area makes contact with new sailor's by putting an invitation and other literature into a Ziploc baggy, then putting it in the cockpit of prospective boats.
Maybe you could extend an invitation in the same way.
I sail out of Lake Champlain. I keep my C-25 at Chipman Point Marina, below the Lake Champlain bridge. It take about three hours to get to the bridge so sailing to the "big" lake takes planning and time. I would welcome a "get together" some weekend. There are at least two C-25's and one C-22 at our marina. I am active on this forum as gracer (Robert Grace) and a member.
Hectic week...Don, the ziplock invitation is a good one; will follow through. Bob, I have not checked the charts, but its clear we are well over a days sail distance from each other. Between house projects and family commitments, the beginning of the summer is already booked, but you have my contact info from the members profile page. If you happen to be in the Burlington area, give us a call and we'll try to work in an evening sail out of Malletts Bay.
I am interested in this!!! I am a soon-to-be C-25 owner (Hull #4663). I hope to have this hauled to my marina next Friday (7/1/05). I will moored at the Chazy Yacht Club (space permitting), up near the CA border in NY.
At any rate though, I do not foresee getting out on the water for a w/end until the 16th or 17th of July, due to plans made prior to my decision to by a boat.
One of our big boat owners is thinking about a Lake Champlain trip this summer and has heard that a holding tank with self=discharge capability has to be disconnected to be legal. I looked for state regs. for New H. to check it out but found nothing. Anybody got any ideas? Dave

Google Lake Champlain recreation, State of New York (West shoreline) or Vermont (East shoreline). It's a very beautiful lake.
Dave, I am quite sure that "disconnected" is technically required, but I have heard of acceptable options under some circumstances. I would post a call to the Burlington, VT US Coast Gaurd station or, for a more informal response, to Peter Hill at "The Moorings", Colchester, VT (802.862.1407). Also to be considered are the regs for Que and NY but I suspect they all follow the same protected waterways regulations.
If you don't have any luck, I'll help track down info when I return from travel on Mon.
