I have a 150 genoa on a furler. I need an easy way to hoist a smaller headsail without having to take the genoa off the furler.
What do you think about making a sleeve which would go over the furled genoa (something like a sail cover for a furled headsails), with grommets into which I could hank a jib?
Anyone heard of, or used such a thing? The closest I saw on the web is the ATN galesail, but I want this contraption for a normal jib, not storm jib. Thank you.
Of course it's doable though I don't understand the need if your furler is functional. Which begs the question, is your furler functional? Usually folks resist sailing with a furled genny because it effects somewhat the efficiency of the furled sail. Certainly a sail sleeved over the furled genny will be no better than the furled genny itself.
If it is doable, any thoughts on how or who/where?
I wanted to do this because, as you said, the partially furled genoa -- especially furled beyond just a few turns -- is not particularly pleasant to sail with -- I get more heeling and less forward speed than my wife cares for. I also worry that the unfurled part would stretch prematurely. I thougth a smaller sail hoisted this way would be a solution to both problems. Mabye not?
