What is the "ballpark" fair market value of a 2001 wing keel/pedestal steering/marine head 250, presently for sale in Long Beach, CA. Been sitting in the slip for sale for over two years. Asking price: $28,500.00

Don't have a clue as to the fair market price...obviously $28.5k is too much or you would have sold her. If I were you, I'd check the price of similar boats, then add a percentage for being in a high cost area (Long Beach). Here are some sites:

Low retasil is $13260, but there are so many possible options and combinations. Try nada and fill in the details for an accurate price.

What is "nada"? The boat's not mine; for sale through a local broker. Obviously, 28 grand's too much for a 2001 that's been sitting idle for two years.

Hi Frank,

Rick is referring to the NADA Guide for used boats ... here's a link: NADA Guide

Welcome to the group, and best of luck in your search!

Tom, either way... it was a steal! I would roughly guess that a boat would drop 20 units from the selling price once it leaves the lot... and another 1500 per year for a few years and then after that the changing market variables play huge into what happens.

Accordingly, if the boat was bought for lets say 27,500... then it should have brought 22,500. It appears that the owner discounted for reasons I'm sure were important, and if I recall correctly, Frank suggested that. We can hope that the sellers fortune turns brighter.

The seller is about $10,000 too high....unless he has a very impressive list of extras, including a galvanized trailer.
I recently looked at similar 250's in Seattle in the high teens.

I would not use NADA...it is usually quite low. The dealers and lenders use the pay side of BUC: www.bucnet.com
