i have a roller furler now, i plan to scrap it when my new 110% jib arrives. do i need to detach the forestay where it meats the bow/deck to do this?

If it is a CDI Flex Furler, then yes, you will have to unpin the headstay and unscrew the turnbuckle to remove the drum and foil. The good news is it's easy enough to do, although the foil is rather heavy. If you change your mind and want to re-install the furler, you will have to drop the mast. I don't think it's possible to put a Flex Furler foil back up with the mast up due to the weight.

maybe i'm being over paranoid with this querstion but is there any danger of the mast falling while i dissconnect the forestay?
