I have small leaks from both the port and starboard tracks for the jib leads (Do those tracks have a proper name?).
I know the solution is to (at least): 1) remove the hardwared, 2) clean everything, 3) reseal with Polysulfide or Silicone, 4) replace hardware.
I also have read (in Don Casey's book and in Sail magazine) about a more extensive job including: 5) removing surrounding deck coring, 6) filling holes with thickened epoxy and 7) redrilling holes for the hardware.
Any thoughts on the merits of this more extensive repair in a 5 yr. old boat? The leaks are minor, but I'm trying to get as much of the DIY stuff done before my first sail of my new-to-me boat.
Unless the leak is old & the surrounding deck coring is showing damage(doubtful in a 5-year old boat) I would just remove, clean, & rebed. I can't see removing surrounding deck coring on such a new boat. Worst case you may need to fill & redrill the holes.
