Will be launching on Thursday or Friday (if all goes well this week). Does anyone have an idiot-proof Pre-Launch Checklist they'd like to share?

I've been looking for one myself, but so far I've been outsmarted each time I splash in the spring because as they say, "When you make something idiot-proof, they build a better idiot!"

Don- Well said, but I must say that I think I'm nearing idiotic perfection!

Leon- While this seems like a terrific pre-sail check list, I'm looking for something that can serve me before the boat is even put in the water after being decommissioned for the winter.

Rich,
Since you are planning an extended trip soon after commissioning I would concentrate on the rig, sail handling and the engine.
The Rig. Check all the wire and turnbuckles for serious rust spots. Check the tune of the rig, not too tight not too loose but just right.
Sail handling. Are the sails in good shape do they raise, lower and/or furl easily and properly? Are all the lines in good shape?
The engine. A shake down with and extended motor sail would be my suggestion.
Add to that your running lights, communications, navigation (maps, gps?) and safety gear (PFD’s & jacklines).
And, oh what the heck, buy that new cooler and fill it up with plenty of goodies.
Make the trip fun.
Good luck.

By splash day, my boat is sitting in its cradle fully rigged and ready to go.

On the day I go in, I mount the outboard (which has been awaken from its winter slumber at home) and fuel tank, make sure my thru-hulls are closed, and that's about it. I figure if I forget something, I can always correct it at the slip.

Here's something you could do...

Make a list of everything you should check prior to launching and after you're in the water, add all those items you forgot to next years list.
