we have a 99 wk C250. all of our windows are crystal clear except our bathroom window. the part that swings open is very cloudy and scratched. what causes this and how do we fix this. any input would be greatly appreciated.

The port can be changed but it is not a fun job. It requires using a sharp-thin putty knife to force between the window and the port to cut the bedding compound completely around the port for removal. Others have suggested using a guitar string. Protect the window by first taping it off and leave the tape on until after the new port is bedded.

When installing the new port, check to see if there is a filler spacer installed prior to inserting the screen. Remove the filler if the screen is used, otherwise the weather stripping will be too thick and will overstress and break the plastic hinges.

it is not bad enough that i want to repace it. i was hoping to find out if there was some type of plastic scratch remover that might remove some of the film that appears to be on the window. i remember seeing a product at the boat store a while ago but i dont remember what it was called.

I recall a few years ago Bill Holcomb recomending Flitz for plexiglass...maybe it would work.
