My hull needs compounding to remove severe oxidation. Her name (Illusion) seems to be some sort of applied decal. Will the above mentioned compound/wax remove it?

Probably not, but minimize the rubbing over the name. I've used 3M Fiberglass Restorer (it has a mild compound and wax) and it hasn't taken my numbers or name off.

I agree with Dave... minimize the use around the name.
I too use the 3M product... If your using a buffer (not an orbital but a buffer) do that area by hand.

Thanks. I, too, am using the 3M compound/wax...the one for severe oxidation. I'll be sure to do the name area by hand.
