Does anyone know where to look for used sailboat trailers. I am moving to the Washington D.C. area this summer and would like to purchase a trailer for the move and winter storage. My wife is in the USCG, so we move every 2-4 years.

Thanks

PS. Questions will follow on where to sail and dock the boat. We have never lived North of I-10, so we have no idea what to expect!

Max,
I needed a trailer last year, didn't have time to wait and try and find one. Because of this I had one made by trailrite. It was pricy, but when they take the water out of the lake you are in you need to do something. I met a friend of Ed Montigue that just bought one very inexpensivly so they are out there if you have the time.

Where in the DC area? The Chesapeake is one of the world's greatest sailing areas--millions of places to go, although with your 4' draft, you'll have to watch the charts. We may move to that area in the next year or so... Probably around Annapolis (if we do). We also like several places on the Eastern Shore, but I need to be closer to an airport for a few more years.

Hi Max,

Here is a tandem axle trailer that is listed on eBay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/ebayISAPI.dll?ViewItem& item=1821700797& r=0& t=0

The trailer manufacturer is in Florida ... maybe they could help you find what you need.

Good luck!

Thank you again Buzz!!
Great Find, Have not seen quality of their trailer, but if service over the phone is any indication I am a very happy man :) Was getting scared I was going to have to buy one of those 6 grand aluminum jobs.

Hey Max,

'Glad to hear things are looking up! BTW, I used to be in the Air Force, and I know what moving around is all about ... 'not much fun.

Good luck!
