If the boat is out of the water, you can prefill a garden hose with water, then put one end in the water tank (from the access cap inside the settee), then throw the other end over the side to siphon out the water tank.

My water holding tank has an access "hatch" about five inches in diameter. I simply unscrewed it, and pumped it out with a hand operated bilge pump.

Jabsco makes a galley pump kit that I think is by far the easiest and quickest way to empty the tank. Not to mention it is the best 30 bones we've spent on the boat! If you're a cruiser, you know pulling on the 'ol whale lever is worthless. If you're a racer and need to dump the weight, simply push the button!

Since I wanted to clean the tank as well as empty it, I took the whole thing out.
