I am looking to install a pedestal guard at the wheel. What is the height of the guard on some of your boats? I don't plan on mounting any instruments at this time (except my hand held GPS). Thanks in advance.
Kurt, Edson makes three pedestals for the sytem installed on a C250. They are the 54" straight, 58" offset and the 58" angle. I installed the 54" straight on my pedestal with a Navpod for instruments. You can request a free catalog from Edson at www.edsonmarine.com. Its in living color, contains all the goodies and a price list. I drooled a lot until I check the prices then caught sticker shock sickness. I got the one with the cup holder top plate which was three plus boat units not including shipping.
I installed the one with the angle along with the dual nav pod. I also added two 12v receptacles to the bottom of the nav pod. I also added the flat plate above it to mount my gps to. I would recommend leaving the gaurds at the length they come. They might seem tall but eventually you may use all of it. I also bought the fold up dinner table that mounts on the guard and got rid of the big clunky table in the cabin.
Frog is correct about Edson's prices. They are down right scarry but all of the add ons seem to be engineered quite nicely. Paul
I have the straight pedestal guard, and have found it a great asset. I mounted two sailing cup holders and a GPS bicycle mount on the pedestal guard. The Garmin bicycle mount fits perfectly on the top of the pedestal guard and allows me to mount the GPSMAP 76S where I can easily see it. Plus the mount was very cheap - about $15.
Edson prices have certainly increased since I bought my pedestal guard!!
