We had great sailing weather at the 2005 BEER Cruise in Pensacola. About 45 boats showed up for this 4 day sail. I got to meet Tom & Adina Gepfrich in their C25 from this site.
Friday night it was a Pig Picking Cajun style at the marina and then the skippers meeting. Saturday morning we sailed about 28 miles east from Pensacola to Navarre Beach where we anchored at Juana's Pagoda where the party ended about 3am. Sunday morning we sailed 18 miles west to Pensacola Beach where we anchored at QuiteWater Beach for the night. We all met at Flounders restaurant for dinner. Monday morning it was west again 14 miles to Mosquito Cove for the afternoon and night. Tuesday it was back to the Pensacola Marina where everyone pulled their boats and headed home.

I got to try out my new anchor sail on the trip, and it worked great. Also the topping lift I installed before I left as well as the VHF mast antenna. No problems. The one thing I did notice was how well the 250 handled on this trip, (our first extended trip). She was stable and fast. I believe it was because of all the weight we had in her. So what does B.E.E.R. stand for. I lurk around the Trailer Sailor site but
have never found out and no way am I going to ask there and wind up in Heloise's column.

Yes, I remember a much more solid ride when loaded up for cruising. I can even quantify it. It's a long story why, but one time I weighed everything I put on board....grab stuff, step on scale, subtract self, note on clipboard, load on boat, repeat till done....over 600 pounds, plus two adults and two kids, almost 1000 pounds...it adds up.

Any voyage you return from is a good one. But this sounds like y'all had a blast. Hope you had plenty of wind, but not too much. Thankx for the pictures. I've been working out of town and hope to make enough this year that next year I too can do the B.E.E.R. Cruise.

Sounds like it was a blast. I guess I will have to purchase a trailer one of these days so I can travel the short way overland instead of the long way in the water. Really like your bimini and sun shield. Do you have some close up pictures you could post? I am in the market for a nice system for cruising and yours looks perfect.

I had the Bimini made at my local sail loft. Just so happens the lady that built it is a family friend (no discount) although she did sew a zipper on the front of the bimini so I could add the sun shade later and built me a tiller cover with the scrap. I bought a few yards of matching sunbrella and the wife sewed the other haft of the zipper to the shade. I put grommets on the front corners and use bungee cords to hook the corners to the life line stanchions. We made the shade long enough to cover all of the hatch so if we had a light rain the cover would keep the rain out(somewhat) Worked out great, really made a difference keeping the temps down in the cabin on this cruise.

Tom, could you post some pics of the additional cover details.
eg. the support posts, the webbing, and the tension lines.

Tom - I too am intrigued with your custom bimini - its fantastic! If you could even start a new post to show details, it would be appreciated. What was used for the support metal? Nice yacht!
