Today I installed the 2 port lights on the port side of my Capri. I have to say, they look a lot better than I ever expected. Installation was quite simple. We had thunderstorms this afternoon with pelting rain, no leaks. I feel it was money well spent, of course it is a little cheaper on a Capri because there are 2 less to put in.

Rick, I hope that you have taken some phtots of the install. What was the final cost of the ports? and what was the turn around on the time?

I installed mine from Criusing Concepts over 1 year ago. Here in Florida, the heat has melted the butyl tap. Leak like crazy, plus the butyl tape has dripped.

Next, I'll try to get all that butyl tape off, and seal them right with black 5200.

This might not have been a problem in cooler climates.

I read one of your or someones earlier posts regarding the butyl tape and decided the cooler climate here would hopefully avoid that problem. My greater concern is that the new port lights are acryllic, which does not always fair well in the cold we get. If it is cracked next spring, I'll not be to happy. Perhaps have Mike make replacements out of polycarbonate if need be. It scratches easier, but doesn't crack in the cold.

The other butyl guy was me, with a couple of warnings in the past that the stuff seems to seal quite well, but in the heat of the sun it weeps, or drips, or whatever. I wouldn't use it ever again. In the past I always used lifecaulk or other polysulfides, and I sure wish I had done so this time. Fair winds, ron srsk Orion SW FL
