We had a Gr-r-r-r-r-reat 3-day weekend sailing cruise at Folsom Lake. The lake level is within 3 feet of full-to-the-brim, and on Friday and Saturday the wind was steady at 8~12 mph, just where I like it. No wind to speak of on Sunday or Monday, but I still had an enjoyable time relaxing on the boat and visiting friends on the other 5 boats in our raft-up. We had three Catalina 25's, a Hunter 270, and a Neptune 24 from our own club, and a Catalina 250 that trailered up from the San Francisco Bay Area, representing the San Jose Sailing Club. I hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable holiday weekend.

There was an airshow and fly-in at Mather Field, and this WWII-vintage B-17 made several fly-overs of Folsom Lake over the course of the weekend, one right over my head at a pretty low altitude:



Our raft-up on Sunday afternoon (left to right= Hunter 270, Catalina 25 Mk IV, Catalina 25 Mk. I, Catalina 25 Mk. IV, Catalina 250WB,
Neptune 24). The boat second from left is Bruce Ebling's former boat "Selah", renamed "Wingin' It" by the new owners, and the boat third from the right is my own "Quiet Time II", with a green bathing suit draped over the railing above the outboard. The boat third from left is my old '79 Mk. I, hull #1205, now renamed "Windy Britches IV" by her new owners.

For comparison, here's Folsom Lake Marina from the same viewpoint, at 14:30 the afternoon of last August 15th, 35 days after the premature closure of the marina due to low water level:
