I went to rig-up my 79 FK TR for may first sail last night and noticed a couple of things that I can't resolve.
First, there is an eight inch or so long hook that dangles down from the boom with no apparent use. It can't be a tack pin since there is one already, and it seems like a rather cumbersome attachment for a Cunningham...
Second, about a foot above the Boom Vang connection at the mast there is another eye. If used for the vang it would be at about almost flat.
Neither are shown in the Catalina Parts list, but both must be original.
I don't have a pop top, but could be an explanation. I have been using it to hold the foot of the boom down so that it doesn't pivot around the vang when heeling. The slab reefing sugestion makes sence as there are a few other blocks and cleats on the mast that seem to defy ny other explanation. Thanks for the help.
