What tire pressure is recommended for the tandem axle Catalina trailer? I have had different pressures recommended for the front versus the back tires to increase tracking.

Thanks Ken

I run mine at 50 psi cold which is the Max for the tires I have. my reasoning is this. If a tire blows the other tire will be very overloaded. The remaining tire would best survive if inflated to Max. I have towed about 1000 miles and only show a little tire wear.

I also run the recommended max inflation pressure cast into the tire sidewalls, all the way around. The C25 is big, long and heavy, (plenty of tongue weight). I've never had any trouble with it wandering. In fact, it tracks like an arrow.

I do know of a guy who wrecked a beautiful inboard wing keel on the freeway, but he was doing 65+... got into some of those nasty troughs worn into the interstates up around Puget Sound and tried to 'power his way out'. Very lucky that nobody was killed.

I think if you follow the speed limits and use common sense you won't have any troubles towing... just don't be in a hurry with 3-1/2 tons on your hitch.

Be sure to check your wheel bearings, lug nuts and tire temps periodically.

I put new tires and brakes on my trailer prior to towing 500 miles this spring. Tire shop inflated to max pressure.
Probably the biggest danger in towing is speed. I feel like I can tow my boat anywhere as long as I don't get impatient or over-confident.

Be sure your tires are TRAILER tires! Some dopes put car tires on their trailers, not properly rated, and BLEWY!- you've got a flat. Passenger car tires might get you down the road to your local dock, but not long distances on highway - its the heat that blows it.
