John, I'm not from there, but spent six years at Plattsburgh AFB in a house overlooking Lake Champlain. My family has great memories of the Lake, Valecor Island and Lake Placid. It is beautiful country with beautiful people. I know you will enjoy your new boat on the Lake and welcome to the forum.

I am originally from Montreal and my family had boats, albeit power boats, on Lake Champlain while I was in high school/college. We used to go to Plattsburgh and surroundings every chance we could.
I have wonderful memories of summers by the lake.

I think that's what gave me the love and yearning to be near water.

John - good luck finding people to sail with you there - if my recollection serves me well, you should have no problem!
