What's the best way to remove old registration stickers from a PVC inflatable? I just bought a used Westmarine 285-SB made by Zodiac. The old registration numbers are painted on (ugh!). I can get around that by using an inflatable registration plate. However, the old registratioon sticker (from Florida, no less, I bought it in Massachusetts) is all gummy and peeling. I know they're supposed to be rugged, but there's something about an inflatable that scares me like a baloon. I just don't want to put a hole in it.

Will Goo-Gone work? Did I just answer my own quetion?

The old sticker should just peel off with little effort - they don't seem to stick to inflatable boat fabic very firmly. Be careful removing the old glue, and don't use any harsh or volatile chemicals - no gasoline for sure! - as these will attack and weaken the PVC coating. If the old sticker's adhesive is firmly sticking on the boat fabric, why not just leave it in place and just apply the new sticker right over it? That's what I did (however, my dinghy is hypalon, rather than PVC, so your results may vary).
