I spent the day watching the C22 Nationals on Canyon Lake.
'Twas a very bad racing day! The spinnaker fleet race this morning was abandoned before the first boat reached the weather mark - winds zero gusting to 1!
The first Gold and Silver Fleets raced this afternoon with little more success - the Silver fleet (non-winners of Regionals or Nationals managed to finish the course but the Gold fleet had their race shortened 3/4 way through.
When I left there were 40+ boats just "parked" waiting for the RC to decide what to do!
Reminded me of the Columbia river last year!
Frank - remember that as RC you are responsible for wind conditions on Lake Cheney!

Every regatta chair's nightmare! How many of the new Sports have you noticed? On is there from Wichita. You can spot them because they look like Capri 22s above the waterline.
We have a strip club here in town called Michelle's Beach House. If we have no wind we will just have to go to the beach.

I met Ed Webb (nice guy!)from Wichita on his C22 Sport - there were 7 of them in the regatta. It looks like another barebones chlorox bottle. It's easy to distinguish from the old C22 as it has steel handrails no the cabin top.

Ed is a very nice guy, he is our local dealer. He is buying beer for the Nationals. He was one of the people who pushed for the development of the sport. They consulted with him as it came along. If you look at the double digit sail number Cat 22's they were pretty plain as well, they have been the favored boats to race.

"Zero wind" is the frequent summer season condition for racers here at Folsom Lake, which is why our club, Catalina 22 Fleet 4, moved the Nationals from Folsom to Lake Tahoe the last time we hosted it.
