GPS installion complete. The goal was to install the Garmin 192C GPS at the helm so that it would be visible to the helm and to either side of the helm when needed. I purchased the RAM Mount and Rail adapter from WM in Fort Lauderdale for around $75.00

First step was to move the pedestal guard from the Deck plates and Pedestal guard plate. and release the shims to get some play so the guard could wiggle out of the deck plates.

The deckplate before the hole was drilled.

7/8" hole drilled through deck (about 2& 1/2" plus!) and reamed out with a sharpended old allen key.

The underside was taped off prior to filling the oversized hole with epoxy resin.

While the resin setup, holes drilled in the guard for the cables and grommets.

After the resin hardened, a 5/8 hole was drilled and the cables fed down the guard and in through the deck hole. They were all sealed up with marine silicone before the guard was put back in place.

I tested the units wiring while the anntenna was laying on the cusion in the aft birth and it got great reception. Then I sat it in its planned location and tested again, really good satelite locking. So then installed it. Same routine, oversized holes, filled with epoxy resin, hardened, redrilled and finally installed. I took off the access plate on the underside of the gunwhale in the aft birth to put on the nuts and washers.

Mounted the GPS on the RAM Mount (will secure the wires later with black tiewraps)

All done, here's a view from the Helm. Naked. Swiveled to the Port side.

And filnally the reason for it all... The navigator at work
