Has anyone ever used a sail for a boat cover? I have been using those silver tarps but they only last about 8 months and they fall apart. I was down at our local boat junkyard and spotted a large pile of sails they were trying to get rid of for $10 each. They were shot as far as a sail goes but I thought they would make a good tarp and for $10 what the heck. I dug out a nice big one 65’ tall with a 30’ foot and took it home. Just about all I needed to do was to trim off the top 35’ and a quick trim along the leech which I put a hem back into. I put a few twist snaps on the front and the back and a couple of grommets on the sides and there it is. Old 77077 has found a new life but how long will it last.
I just have to pass this one on to my Son. I thought he had the tightest parking spot for a boat. Your pic will make him smile big time. And the sail is a great idea.
BTW, is that a 2nd trailer you have parked in front of the boat?
It is actually ten feet across for the boat to park in and 60’ deep (you do learn to back up straight). When this picture was taken there was a Buccaneer 18’ sailboat behind it. The trailer you think is in front of the 250 is actually under it. It is the trailer for the Hobie 16, which is on the other side of the house. I was taking the picture from the swim step of the powerboat. That all fits along side the house and the 1 ton van, which I use to tow with usually, sits in front of the powerboat. They all change spots depending on which one was the last one out.
