We were parked under some trees during derigging (won't park there again) and we got some tree sap on the top deck and sail. Any ideas for getting it off. We washed down with detergent last night but hardly notice the difference.
Don't do anything that would scratch your new gelcoat. My vote is for hot water and soap first followed by a mild cleaner/wax if the soap/water doesn't work. Might also try a bug&tar remover after testing on a not-so-obvious place. Any chemical will probably require a thorough cleanup and wax.
I use Ronson lighter fluid. It works great. It's cheap and comes with a squirt cap. As with any solvent cleaner you should test it on a small inconspicuous spot. After you've removed the sap, wash with a little detergent and water to remove any residue.
