Derek, it sounds like your trip would make a great article for the Mainsheet.

One of the great inland seas was a tad nasty to ya eh? You must not have sacrificed a beer to the Lake Gods before you ventured north..

Once you get your land legs back, I'd love to read about your Lake Ontario adventure(s)..

Glad to hear you're back, safe and sound, at least in body if not in mind ..

Derek,
I would love to get your story in print. I can’t seem to either reply or send a new e-mail to the address I have for you.
Please contact me with an e-mail address so we can get to work on the article.

Thank you

I wish I'd known about the beer offering.

The Saturday weather forecast for Sunday was quite bland, suggesting a few knots of eastern breeze {that should have been my tip off} and a foot or so of seas. Sunday morning forecast was the same, so we raised sales and left Oswego Northbound at 0600. Within three hours we were motoring into a Northern headwind with wave action so great that our motor was spinning free on each crest and making about 1 mph headway. Wind veered again to the NW and we turned back. Next three hours was spent dodging waves from aft, starboard and occasionaly from my son. No weather advisory or small craft warning was ever issued. We tied up and went to the Best Western for our only shore night of the trip.

Otherwise trip was perfect and better than imagined. Will write all up for those interested.

Thanks for all advice and assistance.

Buy or borrow the book ''Honey, Let's Get a Boat.'' Funny, pretty well written book about the Great Inland Loop or Circle. The book covers a couple's journey on a 40 ft powerboat, but covers the areas you are asking about. There's also a Great Loop website. Use Google, plenty of information there well in excess of and with more reality than the canal guides themselves.
