In my part of the country, we are constantly trying to keep the critters out from under our sail/bimini covers, as they love to get in there, build a nest and make a big mess, especially on white sails. Even when we knock down the nests, they leave brown stains. About two months ago I started putting strips of Bounce fabric softner on each snap along the bottom of the sail cover and on the part of the cover that is secured along the forward part of the mast. They work...have not had a critter of any sort get up in my sail yet this summer.

I keep a big can of Raid on the boat. Works on spiders too.

I have got to try that (Fabric softner). We have them something fierce here in Eastern NC. I have one that keeps going up the halyard holes in the bottom of the mast. They probably have a condo up there by now.

I have at least 3 brown spots on my sails from dirt daubbers.

If that works I owe somebody a beer.

I usually cut the original strips in thirds to put along the boom and sixths along the mast...closer together up there. Also, I use them until they are too torn to stay attached or lose their smell.

I use an old sock full of moth balls and have not had any criders in my sails or in the boat and spiders love boats in Florida. I put the socks in the sail folds near the mast and others hang from the cabin spot lights.

I will try puting the Bounce sheets in the tubes of my trailer. The bees love living in there. Thanks for the tip
