Yesterday I bid on a "long-shaft" outboard on ebay. The owner says it's got a 27" shaft. That sounded good. My Nissan has a 20" shaft and it's not quite long enough. But in reading the questions that others sent in, I believe that the owner may have mis-measured the shaft length. He says it's 27 inches from transom to the bottom of the skeg. Mine is 33 inches from transom to skeg. I think I might have bid on a standard shaft motor.
So where is the proper measurement done? Is it from transom to cavitation plate?
BTW, I found a site on the web that sells small used outboards. They're willing to ship.
