1989 Wing Keel Standard Rig. Had an absolute whale of a time getting it in the driveway - which is a flat piece of asphalt 30 feet long, 10 feet wide bordered by the neighboor's shrubs on one side and my house on the other. Ripped up a bit of the neighboor's lawn across the street to get it in, but it's there !
Now comes the tough part - bottom painting, excise taxes, putting it in the water, stepping the mast, complete shakedown - the works.
Welcom Gene, which State are you in (other than being on top of the world) that charges excise taxes? Taxes are just a fine for doing good! (whereas fines are taxes for being bad!)

Excise tax ??? Don't get me started about taxes ... the best deal for this country would be to adopt the fair tax. ( go to www.fairtax.org )... But PLEASE FORGIVE my political slip. At least I don't preach gospel or free sex. (ER UH SORRY, free sex is pretty good)
Tennessee has a tax I simply CANNOT aford. In TN they call it a personality tax, I kid you not.
By the way, Gene. You probably have the best C25 there is. Welcome to the forum.
I apologize. I need to pay the sales tax, not an excise tax. My bad.....
Thanks for your collective good wishes. It took me a couple or hours to get over the initial shock of having a boat in my driveway. But now, it kinda looks normal!
I'm spending the day running around, talking to the boatyard, seeing the harbormaster about getting a mooring, going to the local marine supply store, getting insurance quotes, etc. PO to come by the house tonight with a new tiller and some papers for me. Then I'll be able to register it.
The PO came by the hosue today, with a new tiller, a new battery, a chart for the local waters and an offer to poke around to see if he has a GPS he can let me have. He even offered to come by ina few weeks, after I get everything squared away and am ready to launch. Wicked nice guy....
I just paid the sales tax online (love technology), and will go to the registry to take care of business. I also spoke with the harbormaster, and was told there are moorings available in town waters. I have my application pending with Wessagusett Yacht Club.

Welcome to the group! You indeed found the class of the fleet.

Oh you will pay it my taxachusetts friend..... I registered my boat in Nahant a few years ago hoping I could get a ball up in there. Sure enough, the excise tax bill came from the town of Nahant.... It takes awhile but it will come from whereever your vessel is registered... 'tis faily cheap $60.00 I think for Nahant.

Spoke to a fellow from Holland in California and nearly fell over when he said that they were living with a 39% tax. And I was a little miffed at New York's 8.75% tax. No wonder there were so many Hollanders traveling the USA on vacation.
