I'm thinking my next offering will include some thoughts about what would be wanted with the next Catalina 25 foot design. We've had threads on this a couple of times.
So, please share your thoughts. Yeah, I know... there are some who have said, reintroduce the 25... but that is not going to happen and shouldn't happen. There are too many good used C25s for Catalina to compete with. There are desirable evolutions such as open transoms and motor wells that preclude an exact c25 remake.
So... considering all 25 footers... how would you like to see the next offering vary from the last (c250). Lets set some ground rules, describe what you would want to see in the boat design rather than how it would be upgraded or outfitted.
I'll get the ball rolling with a few of my thoughts.
Things I'd retain from the 250,

the open transom

motor well on transom

no exterior wood

wheel steering option

enclosed head with marine or porti option

V berth that spills onto cabin setees

a keel configuration that allows boat low enough on trailer to climb aboard from swim ladder

Things that I'd want changed,

I'd want side decks

ability to tune the rig on the fly with a backstay tensioner, mast jack or forestay tensioner

dual asymmetrical skegs to provide good tracking and cure increasing weather helm with increasing heel

moving the jib sheet car tracks back outside the shrouds and return to coaming winches

a keel option with stub keel with weighted but balanced center board

More head-room Stop setting the battery to bus bars cables in the fiberglass Taller fuel locker sump in bilge Alternative method of pulling swing keel up(what a difference it makes if you remove the keel cable vanity cover - open air. (The cable tube is mega ugly. If it was elsewhere the steps could swing up to make the aft berth more accessible) More clamps on the cabin top solve the furler line getting caught in the fuel locker lid.
What a great idea! Who should know better than us what Catalina ought to do in the next 25, and then we could have another sub-class to be part of our 25 foot Catalina Association.
I hope you get alot of input, to go with your initial thoughts.
