I have a 77 Cat.25 SK which was in water all winter at a mariner on the south shore of Long Island. While lifting it out in preparation for transport to the north shore, we realized the cable was detach from the keel at the keel eye bolt. Apparently the eye failed, it looks corroded. Fortunately, the boat was in shallow water and it seems no damage was done to the bulkhead. Is there any advised on replacing the keel eye bolt? Will corrosion may complicate removal/installation? Any ideas will be appreciated.

CJ. CJ, That eye bolt was recognized as tender and a retrofit was prepared by Catalina soon after. The new mount is a ss hanger that uses the existing bolt hole to mount it, the keel cable is clevised to it. I had a problem with the bolt hole threads, they rusted to the point that the hanger lost its purchase and the unexpected happened. I expect that what you will have to do is easy out the remains of the eye bolt and order the retrofit kit.
One of the fellows on this list had an ambitious solution to the problem. He drilled completely through the keel starting where the keel bolt was, coming out the other side. The archives should have pictures of the feat.
After two failures of the swing I stuffed the hole with a wing retrofit. Works well
Thank you Val, good advise. I will take the boat to my driveway, It's alot easier to work from there. I am seriously thinking about a wing retrofit also.
