Karen Larson good old boat

I just wanted to share with you my encounter with Karen Larson and Jerry powlas, who publish Good old Boat Magazine. We planned to meet at the begining of their entry into the north channel and accomplished that in Milford Haven at the South East end of St. Joseph's Island.

I have enjoyed their magazine very much feeling as many of you do that the major sailing magazines have abandoned the small boat sailor and cruiser. We enjoyed a delicious meal aboard Mystic their C&C 30 and I shared a lot of information on the north channel. There is a reason why the best sailing writers like Dave Martin and Lin and Larry pardee are flocking to Good Old Boat. The Magazine is a reflection of the fine people who run it.

I'm in an internet cafe in Sault Ste. Marie MI and my sandwich is gettin cold so I'll try to fill in more in a while.

Hey Don, Were you sailing? If so you may have sailed right past my dock. I'm about a quarter mile north of Johnson's Point off Neebish Island. About 200 yards from the Canadian border. That's about 17 miles south of the "soo".

Unfortunately I have only a week left before I will have to pull the boat for the haul back to Ohio. However I have had another great summer of sailing on both Lake Superior and the north channel of Lake Huron. I'm still taking two teenagers on a 16th birthday cruise this week. My daughter will be turning 16 this week and she wants a special cruise but I told her it will depend on the wind and the weather. she is not as savy about sailing as Grace is. in any event I have been living on board for 6 weeks and it will take me a while to get used to sleeping on land again. Faculty meetings are looming and I will soon be facing students again so here's to another great summer of sail.
