I've pretty much gotten to the point in reconditioning Pretty Penny where I need to patch some small holes (or dings, not sure yet) in her hull. The holes were filled with some sort of putty which is greenish-brown with the consistency of hard wax. The putty is starting to crack from age apparently, so I assume I need to dig them out and fill them with something.
Does anyone know what the best thing to do here is? Can I use regular fiberglass resin? Or should I try putty? The dings/holes appear to be generally the size of a quarter up to the old silver dollar (the big one, not the Susan B's). What's the best stuff to use?
What do you guys who have been there recommend?
Thanks!

Grind the old stuff out with a dremel, fill it with 3M Premium Filler available from West Marine or Defender. This filler is made of vinylester and is better than the original fiberglass and is what most manufacturers are using today.
Dave, what you will be doing is removing the previous blister repair. Go to West Marine and you will find a item call West Systems. They should have a User Manual that tells you which material to purchase for below waterline repair and the methods for repair. If thay do not have any go to www.westsystem.com for your information. You will have to grind the old stuff out, as mentioned, and if water drips out you will have to let it sit until dry before doing the repair.
gotta take care of the same kind of ding only this one is a bullet hole. The repair has already been made but the cosmetics by the PO were a little shabby. This is not my C25 but the Columbia 22 I'm restoring. Apparently while the boat was moored some kids on the other side of the river were trying to get rid of geese on their dock, stupidly, with a 22. Fortunately the hole is above the waterline.
There is the possibility that in keeping the bullet hole visible it would make great conversation, (DEA confiscated boat, smuggler, Oh I know...angry ex wife) but I think I'll keep quiet about anger over goose poops.
