Hello folks,

I am looking for the two small forward windows for catalina 25 81' vintage or there abouts. I thought if some of you that have converted to the new flush mount windows still have the old aluminum windows stored away somewhere and would like to sell them it would certainly help me out.

I yanked out all my windows in a what is surely a world record (30 minutes) and I must have a very odd set. The aluminum frames are one piece. Yup - not two but one piece. Off course the frame extrusion is joined at the top of the windows instead of the sides. This makes it impossible to remove the glass without destroying the frames. Anyone have these two windows that are not being used?

Thanks!

Hi Esteban, I would think that there is a way to get the window out. I can't imagine the factory welded those frames with glass or sealing materials in them. If they are one peice, there should be a way to put glass in or take glass out. I do not know this, it is just a guess. Maybe the factory could help. Cheers.

Esteban,
I don't know why anyone would want those windows. I installed some new opening ports I purchased from Defender. But I do have a deal for you. You can have my old windows. In fact, it seems I'll be traveling through Harrisburg either next week or soon after. I can deliver them, or at least get real close. Drop me a personnel e-mail and I'll send you some photos to see if you still want them. My boat is a 77.

Dan,

I just sent you a note. Thanks a million!

Dennis,

Yup - believe it or not these are one piece aluminum frame windows with the ends meeting at the top center. I've no idea how they installed the glass - maybe the frames were heated or something....

The glass on my 1981 C25 were glued (epoxied) to the frames. Expoxied new glass back in.

Dan--_did those Bomar ports fit right into the old cutouts, or did you have to adjust and if so how much? Thanks

Hi Charles,
The 2414 will fit the opening with a little room to move it around. I wanted a tighter fit so I purchased the 2515 which is slightly larger and required the opening to be trimmed. I wanted a real snug fit which translates to a wider sealing surface between the hull and the window flange. Less chance for a leak. I made a template out of cardboard and fit it to the hole before I purchased the windows. The 2414 only had about a 1/8" lip on the outside for sealant. Catalina cut all the openings a little different so the 2414's might fit good for you.
I also purchased the frames powdered coated Arctic white. The photo shows the frames white but the price quoted is for aluminum frames. I wanted to go away from the aluminum frames. Powder coat costs more. My ports were $200.00 ea.
Also note that the cutout size given in the description is incorrect. To me the cutout size is the size of the hole in the boat, but what they show for a cutout size is actually the size of the opening you see through. The size listed for the ports is the cutout size.
I strongly recommend that you call Bomar customer service and talk to them. They offer several options and there are special codes that go along with the listed options. Options like clear lights or smoked, green? frames, aluminum or powder coated ect...
Some people don't like them because they aren't heavy duty with big dogs to hold them shut. I looked at it like this, there are more fasteners holding the windows than holding the pop top.
I can provide photo's of the lights if you would like.

THanks Dan, that pretty well sums it up. That's down on the list but it is down on the list if you know what I mean. Good to know what to expect.
