You need a 3-5 thousand lb weight limit winch, make sure to get a two speed model. You can find these at any on line trailer part store. Just go to google via this form link and type in "Trailer Parts" you'll find one.

www.trailerpartsdepot.com Try this store, the 3700 lb wench is what you'll need.

I would also advise steel cable and not a nylon strap. The strap compresses as it rolls onto the winch and won't pull the boat up snug.

I once tried a 3700 lb wench. Quite an experience.

The fulton recommended above in the trailerparts.com site isn't all that big.

Don't forget to set up a safety chain from the trailer post to the bow eye...
never trust a wench to hold your boat.

Since these boats weigh over 4000 lbs, why does the winch not have to support that weight?

Thanks,

"why does the winch not have to support that weight?"

Because you're not trying to lift entire the boat and hang it in mid air. Winch just needs to be strong enough to pull it forward onto the trailer and secure it. Due to the design of the C25 I pretty much 'float' my boat onto the trailer. I've never put a huge pull on the winch at all.

Others needs may vary with ramp/trailer etc..
