I have a Tohatse 9.8 HP outboard with the remote control box in the cockpit. Very handy. The cables are very long and the excess is coiled on the cockpit floor along with the excess fuel line prior to running through the starboard transom drain to the motor.
Is it possible to cut the cables to a better length or are the ends pre-swaged and not user replacable? I have not have a good look at it and the boat is a couple of hours away.
Ideas?

To the best of my knowledge you can not change the length of all the remote control cables for shifting and throttle. If shorter cables are needed then you must get shorter cables. I would route your old cables the way that you want them before connected to the remote or engine, then measure the length that it took. Keep in mind sharp radius curves will bind inside the cables.
