Ya its winter, and every ones trying to keep warm, and the driveway clean. But not some friends, they went to St Petersburg, and rented a 40ft (and for give me for using this word) Hunter, for the week. Now its a nice boat, but it has an in the mast, main fuller system. What a pain, You have to do this, then that, and then hold this line wile you pull that line. The Sail finally got stuck, in the "in" position, and they could not get it back out. Had to motor back 20 miles so the owner could work on it. Note to myself #1 Dave, make sure everything works "before you start on a week long trip". Now I,m sure someones thinking, this is not the place for this post, and there probably right, but what the heck, nothing else was posted !!! Note to myself #2 Dave , stay with the Catalina 250 you have. Have a good week !
1. The sail can have horizontal battens and thereby a roach.
2. It doesn't add weight aloft.
2. When something gets jammed, you can reach the full length of the furler without a bosun's chair.
A disadvantage is it makes a fatter roll.
I never really wanted either.

Unfortunately, your friends also picked the coldest week of the year here. We are supposed to have sunny weather for the rest of this week but high temps will only get into the low 60s. Overnight low will be 39 degrees on Friday. I know, I know the rest of you have -10 degrees and 17 of snow, but I hate sailing with a coat on

More like a survival suit! Then there's the 50 hp outboard and steel bow guard to break the ice...

Dave J, They picked up at St Petersburg this week. and they do have coats on. Down time, Day back, day to fix and a day of rain. Note to self :: Keep in mine weather can change in a hart beat. And yes "stinkpotter" There is a reason to throw salt over your left shoulder before your roll the main in. Its been fun. Any thing more we should talk about?, How about the price of GAS. its $2.09 a gal. Sarasota FL. TODAY.
