Can anyone tell me what the distance is between the bottom of the battery compartment and the hull in a 2005 Catalina 250 Wing Keel? How much space is there? Thanks for your help

The access hatch is 13 inches top to bottom.

From the top of the molded battery tray to the overhead is approximately 18 inches.

From the bottom of the battery tray to the overhead is approximately 20 inches.

I have tiller steering. If you have a wheel, these measurements could be different.

Hope this helps.

David,

Thanks for the info. To be more specific, I was wanting to know how much room is there from the bottom of the battery tray, to the bottom hull... any information you could give would be appreciated.

thanks in advance

You are talking about the factory fiberglass battery tray located in the back of the boat, just inside of the rear bulkhead hatch correct?

To the best of my knowledge that tray is glued to the outer hull.

What are you trying to do? I am now guessing that you are asking because you want to drill through the bottom of the battery tray?? Not sure that I would do that.

The outer hull slopes down forward to which the battery box is glued horizontally forming a wedge shape space beneath the box with maximum space of about your finger width... hope this helps

Thanks for info. Henk... is the maximum space (of about the finger width), then at the forward most end of the battery box... by the bulkhead/ opening? To your knowledge is this the same in both WB and keel... I have a wing keel... 2005. Thanks for you your help.

It would be reasonable to assume that both WB and keel are from the same mold. The thick end of the wedge shape space below the battery box is indeed next to the bulkhead compensating for the downward slope of the hull... I hope this helps
