Hi Derek, Some of us "old-timers" are still around ... 5 degrees F here this morning ... maybe no sailing today. Bill Holcomb - C25 Snickerdoodle 34839
Took the below pic on my BVI charter last week. It's nice enough to sail here today but family issues will keep me at the dock. I did get up to the top of the mast on the Capri this morning to replace a wind indicator the local osprey destroyed earlier this year. So, at least I got to play on a boat a bit today.
We're still here but little outside activity due to -9 to -3 Celsius (15.8 to 26.6 Fahrenheit) with 3" snow in the Fraser Valley near Vancouver
Checked on the boat, replaced the moisture absorbing crystals in the cabin, fastened the tarp, checked things over and repeated the same thing in the travel trailer parked next to it.
Spending a little time carving figure heads with winding beards and long mustaches on walking sticks...

I just enjoyed relaxing in the cloudy, damp mugginess here in the Houston area.
Today it was 80 degrees, a very strong cold front is coming thru around midnight and by 5am tomorrow morning it's supposed to be 32 with a high tomorrow of 45. North winds 15-25 mph, gusting to 30-35.
Checked on the boat for the first time this winter a couple of days ago...-5F with 25 Kn winds; projected wave heights on the lake were 5-7 ft. Tarps were holding fine but not sure what I would have done otherwise. Boats packed together in the boatyard really reduce wind speed near the surface.
Mid 70's here on the Gulf Coast this weekend but too much rain to sail. Hopefully this coming week will be better, though there's still a chance of rain.
Rain? What's that? Oh--I just went outside--it's raining on top of the snow we just got. Happy to be shrink-wrapped, with a nice fire in the fireplace!

Tom, nice pic. I saw that over on the Cruising Outpost website.
Thanks, they put it up right away. There's another pic I sent them is also up. We were on a ball at Anegada Island and woke up to rain showers. Just got really lucky on the timing and angle of the "rainbow jib".
I went sailing yesterday afternoon. Temp was 73 when we left the dock. Upon return it was 47 and very windy. Here is a link to the data for that sail. Get on RaceQs find track; Journey or search by boat name: Nimue

Life is not a dress rehearsal. You will not get another chance.
Took advantage of the short warm spell yesterday morning, and pulled Pualani's outboard and rudder off. Got done just in time; wind piped up to 15 kts, gusting to 25, temp dropped 10 degrees just in the short time we were on the dock, rain started shortly after. Pu's engine is now comfy in my garage, her dirty rudder still sitting in the back of my truck, to be washed off during the next warm spell we get.
[BREAK] Larry! Is your boat ok? Just saw the news, District Yacht Club's clubhouse burned! Is your boat docked there? News reported no significant damage to boats, but the building is a complete loss. Hope everything is ok with you and your boat.

Shoveled six inched of fresh snow off my driveway on Saturday Morning -- even more near the street after the town snow plows came through. Was too tired for anything but watching some football while the snow transitioned to rain. By Sunday evening (27 hours after shoveling to be exact) between the rain and near 45 degree temp ALL snow on my yard was gone! Now it's about 15 degrees. Gotta love (or live with) winter!
