We have electric start, minimal other power demands. Went the entire season without a need for ac charge. The original was defective and not used. I have a new Promarine 8 amp, Gen3 ready to install and struggling over selecting the location. Directly under the steps, is too far for the new cables to reach. Admiral caught a glimpse and says it's a deal breaker for it to be visible, if prudent I tend to agree. I discussed concerns with a battery systems company and they found no issues with mounting the charger in the locker under the quarter berth, alongside battery compartment. Lifting the cushion and tilting the lid, I'll be able to see the face plate. During the off-season the cushion and lid won't be an issue.
I've seen little mention about placements, other than cautioning about ventilation. Wanted to poll owner wisdom before taking a flyer?

I have that same charger and mounted it in the port side cockpit storage (dumpster) just below the electrical panel. I wired it to the main leads coming from the battery right there.
Since I don't have shore power, I added a charging receptacle in the spot where the shore power receptacle would go.
It's a very clean installation and the status lights are visible looking forward through the open hatch.
Myself, I like to keep anything out of the battery compartment except the battery. Especially things that could create a spark such as plugs and terminals.

I have mine located in same spot (dumpster). Easy to see by just lifting the hatch. I would be leery placing it anywhere in the bilge area near the battery. Possible water splash.

Appreciate the affirmation/s. I wish I had started my research here, could have saved myself a lot of heartache! I plan to mount it as high up as possible. I'm also considering cutting the lid in down, into 2 pieces. Making it easier to slide, under the cushions, especially with any weight on it. Thanks!
I have a different brand, but mounted it on the vertical panel behind the companionway ladder and ran the leads to my battery switch. It's hardly noticeable, but the indicators are easily seen.

Understand that you favor a less visible location for the battery charger install. Anyway, here is where I installed it. I made a bracket for it to hang off the quarterberth shelf/wall.
Larry I did see your setup. After viewing the extent of your other projects, I felt I should do the same. In the end, the rarity of need convinced me that we could stow it away. By the way, your v-berth self and protective barrier is ingenious!
Thanks ! By the way, my spouse does not sail often and so, except for her overwhelming appreciation for the extended bunk (where she would normally sleep onboard) and the convenience of the suspended table, the visibility of the charger raised no concerns.
