I have a question for those of you that have installed the "Day and Night Solar Vent".
Im thinking about installing it on the sligind hatch on the pop top. What I need are the dimmensions of the vent itself inside the cabin. I see that the height of the vent is two inches but the manfacturer web site does not list the height(?) dimension inside the cabin.
I have about a quarter to a third of an inch clearance when sliding the hatch and thought this would be a great place to put a vent. Sorry about the question but I'm an hour and a half from West Marine and my boat.
If anyone out there has this vent I would appreciate the help. Thanks!
Mine is located between the forward hatch and the mast at the forward part of the head. It is a little to port from center. A P.O. put it there. Of course I have to be cautious not to step on it when working around the mast, but it's something one gets used to. I like having the vent at the other end of the cabin since the (companionway) hatch boards have vent slots in them.
Ours is in the forward hatch. When we sail, I remove the vent and install the flat plate so not to catch a sheet. Works great, always get the sun, and moves a buch of air. On my older 25 we had the same setup, but also had one installed in on of the hatch boards. The forward vent was a pusher and thge aft vent a puller. Never got the mildew smell.
