About 3 weeks ago, you may have seen the State of the Association post that I posted to keep you up to speed on what we as officers have done and plan on doing before the end of our term. <font color="red">[url="http://www.catalina25-250.org/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=9890"]See the original post here[/url]</font id="red">

One of those items was an Affiliate Program to generate some revenue to offset some of the ongoing expenses that the association absorbs each year. For example the cost of the Mainsheet Magazine, which went up this year was not passed on the the members, instead the increase was paid for out of the Association account.

I am pleased to announce that our first affiliate program, with West Marine, is now available on the links page.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN:
If you purchase andy items from West Marine online and use our link to get to the West Marine website, the association will receive between 3 and 5% back for your purchase. We will also be able from time to time to put special links on our webpages offering special discounts on other items. BUT YOU HAVE TO PURCHASE ITEMS BY CLICKING THE LINK ON OUR LINKS PAGE

To alleviate any concerns some may have, we have no intention of posting banners and ads on this forum page. Everything will be on the association links page. Which I might add, is available for members and non-members alike. So spread the word to your sailing friends. "Click from here to help us out"

I am currently working to at Boaters World, some Boat US programs, Cabelas for all you fishing enthusiasts. There are also a number of companies that we are trying to work with to get member discounts as well. But there will be more on that later.

So with out any further inane banter by me - I am pleased to announce our particpation in the West Marine Affiliate program.

We're getting 3% to 5% kickback from a click through to West Marine?! Way to go!!! Considering what this crowd collectively spends at West Marine, and our desire to help out our association, this should produce a significant boost in the Association account. Good work, Duane.

Happy to see Duane's enterprising approach. That seems to be going beyond the confines of his office for the betterment of the association and the members. With our "upgrade/things to do" lists growing near the end of the (northern) sailing season, an affiliate benefit program is very good. Thanks, Duane for your efforts!

What a great deal. Excellant work Duane. I don't know if this WM rule applies to WM links online orders, but when I order through the local WM and it is sent to the store for pickup there is no shipping charge??

Actually it was a group effort with all the officers. With vacations, school starting up etc, I just happened to be the guy on point to finish up and post the message. BTW, the current link is a 4%, provided the merchandise isn't returned after 30 days.
