Just a heads up on using the trailer jack while performing a tow rope recovery. Yesterday we pulled JD out on the shallow ramps at Black Point. I didn't lower the jack to it's minimum necessary for the hitch bar to clear the ramp surface. Result - Hit a crack in the ramp, and collapse! The Trailer Jack Stand buckled. It's Dead.
I'll add a pic later.
So if you do use your trailer jack during towrope launch/recover, make sure it is lowered as much as possible. We're heading out to buy a new jack and look for a 5th wheel fitting!
(The good news was that the boat at the next ramp had a bunch of guys on it. They came over and we literally lifted the trailer hitch onto the car towing ball. Mean power!)
