I havn't been on the forum much lately, I have been so busy with school and trying to upgrade my web-site. I have made a lot of progress on Gracie's boat and I thought I'd share some photo's.
Gracie continues to grow as sailor and is excited about the columbia 22. We will include the 22 in our North Channel cruise next year. So the fleet will be made up of several C25's and Gracie's boat skippered by my buddy Jake.

It didn't occur to me to encourage members to re-visit the fuel tank pages, however with more areas forbiding the transport of gerry cans on deck, it has become necessary for long distance cruisers on C25's to install perminant fuel tanks. Mine was installed in anticipation of the 04 Isle Royale cruise. Boats are not allowed to carry fuel on deck within the park boundaries. (3 miles off shore)
Thanks for your comments on the Columbia. She surely is a nice little boat and I anticipate a bit more rugged than the Catalina 22. Her bow makes a narrow entry into the water and with 1000 lbs of fin keel she will certainly behave more like the 25 than my former C22.
I was not aware keeping gerry cans on deck was not allowed anywhere. What park is this you are referring to? I guess I need to keep up with the NTM more.
Hi Ben, Isle Royale National Park in Lake Superior is an area where fuel storage is an issue. At present the waters of Lake Superior are pristine in most areas, meaning it is safe to drink right out of the lake. I believe that may be the only area I am aware of but there may be others. I think this is strictly a fresh water issue. It also may be a park system regulation or a result of the wilderness act.
By the way, congratulations on your Captain's license and thank your wife for her beautiful statement in your praise. It is certainly a worthy achievement.
Thank you for sharing photos of your fuel tank mod. I like it a lot. Please don't be offended by me mentioning that gasoline dissolves teflon tape. I know of aircraft accidents due to failed engines (the dissolved tape found its way into a carburetor).
Also, I have sailed Columbia 22's ... they are really fun, comfortable and sail well.
Thanks Mark, I look forward to putting the 22 in the water next summer. I believe I was aware of teflon's low tolerance of gasoline. The threaded connection I think was the only place I used it mostly to keep fumes out of the locker. On your suggestion I'll give the joint an inspection before next season.
