My wife and I attempted to raise mast on our 89 C25 Usumati, and we discovered the mast is VERY heavy and difficult to raise and handle. After consulting forum, I fabricated an A-frame from 1" rigid conduit, using 1" u-joints for hinge points. We ran jib halyard to A-frame, and another line from forward point of frame through a turning block I mounted on bow pulpit, and then to primary winch. My wife cranked, while I raised and stabilized. The nice thing with the A-frame is if you need to stop process (rest, etc.), you can do so safely. Only problem we had was getting enough down pressure on furler/forestay to pin the unit on, but we finally got it done. After the raising securing, etc., we dropped the mast with A-frame which took about three minutes. Thanks forum people for the info! John Wood 89WK "UZUMATI" (UZUMATI is native name for Yosemite.)
