When we got PennyII the deal was a shower capability had to be provided along with enough water to make four days. So I installed a secound 12 gallon water tank and Arlyn's blaster pump system. Next the shower had to be enclosed so it had to go in the head. This part was farely easy, but getting the water out of the bilge was a problem. Since I got my new boat the factory installed bilge hose has been useless unless you had two people aboard. The hose was run to the rear bilge area, which is not the lowest part of the bilge. Try as I may I could not get it to the lowest part. There was just not enough room to get it between the floor stiffners and the floor. This became a large problem after I set up the General's shower. The shower water runs into the bilge and I could not find a electric pump that would remove all the water. The smallest I found would remove all, but the last inch. So a way had to be divised to remove all the water both during an after the shower. Here is the shower and bilge modificaton which allows single person operation and gets all the water out.
Two inch drain in lowest part of head floor
Orginial bilge hose location
Bilge hose modification using one inch plastic electrical tubing.

Hi, I took delivery of a 250 last spring and have been given the winter boat tasks which consist of adding a shower to the head. I would like to know how your installation has worked for you and any other comments you might have to push me in the right direction. We sail in Kentucky and am planning a cruise to the Chesapeake bay area in the spring so I sailing days are not so far away and I am being pressured for results:)
Very nice, Frog. I wanted to put a shower in the head but decided instead to do it in the cockpit near the transom, with a shower curtain arrangement hung from the backstay (haven't done it yet).
But after seeing your neat installation, I might rethink it...!
We have use the shower setup only a few times so far, but the General loves it. We have a eight gallon solar shower which provides enough water for eight showers without having to reload. Like you, I originally was going to use, what I call the cockpit tent, but the General was having none of that. She said, "she had a inclosed bathroom for a reason, and it wasn't to take showers outside." There-in is the reason to figure a way to turn the enclosed head, 1/2 bathroom, into a full bathroom. The major problem was empting the bilge so I would not need her to hold the hose while I pump the cockpit bilge handle. I did find a 12 volt pump that I intend to install in the bilge hose to allow her to just push a switch when finished showering and the bildge empties. It moves 240 GPH as high as 23 feet if required. So it should handle the problem nicely. I will post pictures after installation. All in all she really likes it. I am sure that before long another project will be to install a pressure system with a standard showerhead like the big boats. She likes the one in my neighbors 46 foot SeaRay and will accept the lack of headroom, but not the rest. I don't know if this would work in a water ballast model, since I have no idea of its bilge vs ballast tank setup.
