I like this last effort, however, I think it would look cleaner if we only had the Catalina diamond w/o a number in the white half, centered in the circle, and the boat names in the outer ring.

Hi All,

Here's my idea. If this is going to appear as embroidery on apparel, then I recommend keeping it simple. The more colors the more cost. Making the lettering a separate item helps to reduce the stitch count, and thus the price.

Andy,
You have to have the picture hosted at an internet site like www.shutterfly.com or www.photobucket.com. Both those sites are free but shutterfly will spam you a couple of times a week. It won't show up on the forum if it only resides on your hard drive.

Back to the first Design, I am not worried about colors or outlines at this point, I am working on the design of the logo. As for the colors it all can be black and white for that matter.

My suggestion:

Place the logo on a diagonal with the red triangle of the next burgee touching the white of the previous burgee.

Andy's proposals are excellent. At first, I liked the previous ones that include all three diamond shapes, but by comparison with Andy's proposals it's apparent that they're much too "busy." There are too many design elements competing for your attention. Andy's are good clean, professional-looking design, uncomplicated and easy to understand. There's only one triangle, and, along with the wording, it serves to identify all three boats. The second design looks perfect for a letterhead, either centered or in the upper left corner of the page.

If you want to jazz it up a little, you could use a little fancier lettering and make some of the words red and some of them blue, like in the example posted by McKillip on October 27. I think that would make an outstanding logo.

I agree with you on the "boat logo" Duane. Perhaps the "C" could be a mite smaller to get a better balance...

I vote for the boat logo as well. I agree the C could be a bit smaller or maybe just continue the line through it. Cheers.

My vote goes to the sailboat logo also except the "&" needs to not be transparent.
Very nice. It has the half diamond shape and the C.

If this was the C25 National Assn., and the logo included a picture of a C25, then I think it would be fine. But this is an assn. of 3 different classes of boats, and that picture doesn't resemble any of them.

All three of our classes of boats are cabin boats. The picture appears to depict an open cockpit boat. A logo should create a mental image that accurately represents the organization. That picture implies that our boats are open cockpit boats. I don't have a problem with using a single, impressionistic drawing of a sailboat in the logo, but that particular drawing is too literal, and it misleads as to the nature of our boats. I think we should find a drawing that more accurately represents our type of boats (or at least that doesn't mislead as to the nature of our boats), or choose a logo that doesn't use a drawing of a sailboat.

My vote also goes to John Hanson's Sailboat logo. Even if it doesn't become the "official" logo I would like to use it for some shirts.

Hi Steve, I assumed it was heeled over so much you could not see the cabin. Cheers.

Steve has a point...The boat shown is supposed to be healed over, I could show the cabin but it would be barely noticable.

I'm glad you all like it. Taking some of your comments I may be able to make it better. However, no matter what, not everyone is going to be completely happy. That's the way it goes.

Josh.

Hello all. My name is Chuck Drinkworth. My wife and I just bought our first boat. a 1977 Catalina 25 hull Number 480. We love our new addition. when I am not sailing, I work as a graphic designer, and would love to submit some sketches. I have a question ... The 25 and the 250 logo are set in a diamond. is the capri logo set in the same diamond ? I just saw the post tonight, and will sketch something in the next couple of days. I also design and decorate clothing and apparel. If I can be of any assistance, I can be reached at cdrinkworth@charter.net

Chuck,

The capri logo is just a red triangle, no lower half.

Josh - Throw the cabin on your graphic, the officers will need to vote on this very soon.

Welcome aboard Chuck! You can find the three "diamond" logos on the first page of this thread, in the first message.

The Commodore said entries will be accepted until December 15.

Although the sailboat logo is pretty cool, I like the simple yet elegant approach...

Excuse the poor rendition, graphics work is not my specialty!
