What's the hurry? Our logo hasn't been used in recent issues of the Mainsheet. Why is it so important to include it in the next issue? According to the last comment on the subject, the most popular proposal so far is going to be modified, and nobody has even seen the modification. A professional graphic designer is working on a proposal as well. New proposals are still coming in. We just got two this morning. We're going to have to live with the new logo for a long time. Let's give folks until December 15, as originally announced, to see what they come up with.

OK Do we call it the
<b>Catalina/Capri 25/250 International Association</b>?
or the
<b>Catalina 25/250 & Capri 25 International Association</b>?
I just need some one to say this one or that one. Personaly I like the ampersant as it deliniates the three boats better IMO. But it's up to the officers. Nothing says we can't (double negative!? ) try one now for the Feb. issue and change it if we don't like it.

Or, another alternative is to use the old name that has been used in the past, and announce that the Association has brought the Capri 25s into our association, and that the officers will announce the Association's new name and it's new logo in the next issue of the Mainsheet. The association's name hasn't officially changed yet, so it would make sense to use the old name until a new name is officially adopted.

Oh! Does the name change <b>after</b> the trial period? In that case maybe it should stay the same.
The name changes whenever the association decides that it should be changed. Personally, I don't think we should wait until after the end of the trial period. That would be like marrying your sweetie and then telling her you don't want her to change her name to yours until you see whether the marriage works out. But there's no reason why it has to be hurried up in time for the next issue of the Mainsheet, especially when it makes sense to take a little time to let members submit their ideas for our new logo.
John G. - the second of your new names would be best, with "Capri 25" after the ampersand. Otherwise it makes it seem that the Capri also has a 250 model...! Derek

Hands down, the logo with the boat is the best one. There is no way to make it so clear that someone would look at the boat and say, "hey, thats no catalina!"
Its a sailboat and it works very well. To get so technical on a logo because you cant see a cabin or whatever is ridiculous and nit-picky.
Complaining over something so minor as "you cant tell its a catalina" is absolutely idiotic.
I say go with it and let's get it in the Mainsheet for all the sailors of Catalina to see.
Its a logo for pete's sake, its not running for Mrs. Logo America.
Three or four of the designs that have already been submitted would be acceptable to me, but I'll ask again (since nobody has answered my question so far)...What's the urgency to make a decision? Why should we make a decision now, before everyone has submitted their ideas for a logo? Why shouldn't we give them until December 15, as the Commodore originally announced? Why shouldn't we let folks have that much time to see if they can come up with something better than the designs that have already been submitted?
Sorry Folks, My server has been giving me the run around for the last month, Everything that I have posted has been deleted off, but I still have them on my hard drive. As a Catalina Owner, I don't care if you can see windows or not, But for all of you that want to see windows, here is a digitized image of my Capri 25 on a cruze. If you don't want the Capri 25 on the Logo send me a Catalina 25, and I will do the same artwork to it. I do this kind of artwork for a living so its no big deal to send it back to one of my architects and have them whip it out. Personally I think that it is a logo, it can be changed. Its not like you all are trying to have the Catalina 25 name branded, If you don't like it have it changed. As for the design I do like the boat, I like the ones I have done also, but it seems that their are too many people to please, Let the board pick a winner on the deadline and as a BOG make the changes to the logo. Hey next year have another contest, I like to dress in different shirts with different logo's. So with out taking up any more time here is the Capri 25.
I changed my opinion..the last one by C.S. McKillip is the one I like. It seems to have most of the things people are asking for. It's a good happy medium for most of the sugestions.
As an artist, I think that C.S. design is too congested for this aplication. I really think a logo design should have style over substance. The one that still catches my eye is the boat heeled over with Catalina 25/250 & Capri 25 under it. That's just my opinion, but that is also what Bush said when he sent our young men into battle. Cheers.
<blockquote id="quote"><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" id="quote">quote:<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"><i>Originally posted by coach</i> <br /> I like it as well, but it looks like an Oday to me! LOL <hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></blockquote id="quote"></font id="quote">
An Oday, *&^%(((*&???? I thought you all wanted a Catalina, Then its a Catalina but not to much detail, Then its, Less Detail, but could you add some windows? Then its Hey I like that Catalina but it looks like an O'Day......... Just givin some crap, and taking it too. Here is the photo the boat was outlined from.
Like I have said before, Lets have the BOG make the call, there are allot of options out there.
Personally, I think this one presented by Mr. Madden captures the spirit of the association, looks professional and should be easy to reproduce on both garments and stationary as well as for use in web banners:
