Our club (Sacramento Catalina 22 Fleet 4), held the last cruise for the year at Folsom Lake over Veteran's Day weekend. We had perfect conditions, warm and sunny days in the mid 60's, cooling overnight to the low 50's. On Saturday afternoon a mild high pressure over Northern California combined with a Low over Nevada to produce a wonderful 12 mph northwest wind on the lake for most of the afternoon, dying out at sunset. I got in 3 hours of perfect sailing, concluding with a 4-boat raftup in New York cove for lunch, and a sunset motor-sail back to the marina (this takes about 45 minutes at 4 kts). We then anchored out in the marina basin overnight, again with a 4-boat raft, and had a still and quiet night (I always sleep good on the boat on nights like this). Sunday morning we had a leisurely breakfast and conversation between boats at anchor to about noon, after which it was time for me to haul out, take down and bag the sails, and get the boat ready for winter hibernation. This was accomplished by 17:00, and I was home at 18:00. Unless I decide to de-rig the boat and bring it home to work on, or participate in one of the mid-winter cruises on San Francisco Bay, this weekend will probably be the last time I will use the boat until next March 18-19, our club's First of Spring cruise.

Awesome sunset while homeward bound from New York Cove back to Folsom Lake Marina. The nearer of the two boats ahead of me is "Toy Box" (left of photo center), the more distant boat is "Green Flash" (center of photo)

Very impressive! Great pics. 'Akuna Matada' is a cool name for a sailboat too. Very good to end the season on such a nice voyage.

Pretty spot, good times... and March isn't that far away.
